Every day, more than 2,700 employees in Berlin's prison system ensure the safe accommodation and care of prisoners in the capital's eight correctional facilities. The prison system encompasses many professions and fields of activity, including the trades, health and nursing, social professions, medicine and law. We therefore offer a wide range of attractive entry-level and career opportunities for career starters and experienced professionals.
Plötzensee Prison is occupied exclusively by adult male prisoners and is divided into three sub-prisons. These contain accommodation areas for closed and open prisons. In addition, alternative custodial sentences are enforced in Plötzensee Prison. The approximately 800 employees from numerous different professional groups work hand in hand every day to fulfill the legal mandate. They organize and secure all processes related to the care of up to 700 prisoners.
The prison is also the central service provider for the entire Berlin prison system. This includes, for example, the Berlin justice system's central transportation service, central catering management and a laundry. The prison also provides medical care for all prisoners in Berlin through the prison hospital located on the premises.
Also part of Plötzensee Prison are the Central IT Office for Berlin Prisons and the Social Services of the Judiciary, the Tenant Management for Prisons, the Berlin Prison Education Center and the Criminological Service for Berlin Prisons and the Social Services of the Judiciary, which are structured into four competence centers.

Head of the Central Catering Management of the Berlin prisons / Senior Catering Manager (m/f/d)

Pay grade: E14 TV-L
Full-time with 39.4 hours per week

Your area of responsibility includes:

Technical and organizational management, in particular
Managing and ensuring quality standards and processes in the daily provision of meals with regard to economic, qualitative and nutritional aspects by developing and implementing future-oriented concepts.
Managing and ensuring a crisis-proof food supply for the (daily up to 4500) prisoners / inmates.
Initiating and participating in the planning of structural maintenance measures for the ZVM's institutional kitchens.
Monitoring compliance with legal requirements in the area of responsibility.
Management and (further) development of a reliable reporting and key performance indicator system and its controlling, applying comprehensible administrative action.
Managing and conducting internal meetings and participating in external meetings.

Personnel management (direct management responsibility for 7 employees; a further 27 employees in the institutional kitchens), in particular
Management of job/staffing requirements.
Initiation of job advertisements and job selection decisions.
Managing the deployment of staff.
Management and implementation of personnel measures and personnel development measures.

Resource responsibility (budget responsibility approx. € 5 - 6 million / year), in particular
Preparation and registration of budget funds as part of the budget preparation for the budget titles to be managed and for investment planning
Control and management of the assigned budget titles and investment planning.
Authorization to issue orders and legal power of representation for the area of central catering management.

You have...

Completed university degree in business administration (diploma or master's degree) with a focus on gastronomy management or food management or proven comparable qualification.

Experience in the management and control of larger catering businesses (e.g. clinics, retirement and nursing homes, canteens).

In addition, the following are desirable: Several years (at least 3 years) of experience in the management and control of larger catering operations (at least 2,000 catering participants).
