The Studierendenwerk Mannheim is a modern public-sector service organization with a social mission and commercial management. Approximately 220 employees provide comprehensive social support for the 24,000 students in the Mannheim higher education region through dining halls, cafeterias, housing, BAföG, childcare, and numerous counseling services.
Your Responsibilities
Management of the Studentenwerk cafeteria at the Technical University, with a daily production of approximately 1,300 meals
Organization, coordination, supervision, and documentation of work processes throughout the kitchen and dining areas
Staff management and scheduling, as well as training and supervising employees within one’s area of responsibility
Developing innovative, varied meal options that appeal to our international clientele, with a strong focus on cost-effectiveness and quality
Assisting in the preparation and presentation of hot and cold dishes
Planning, budgeting, and executing special events as part of a team
Implementing and monitoring all legal hygiene and safety regulations as well as internal quality standards
Administration of the facility (office tasks, ordering, inventory management system, pre- and post-calculations, inventory counts)
The required professional and personal qualifications
Successfully completed training as a chef with additional qualifications as a master chef, foodservice manager, or a comparable qualification
Several years of professional experience in a comparable position in institutional foodservice or university foodservice
Strong business management skills, demonstrated where applicable through relevant continuing education
Several years of leadership experience, combined with a high degree of respect, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to lead and motivate teams
A strong sense of responsibility, the ability to work independently, and a high level of commitment, coupled with unrestricted physical stamina
Enthusiasm for the role and openness to the needs of our student clientele
Excellent organizational and communication skills
A well-groomed appearance, a friendly demeanor, and excellent manners
Proficiency with Microsoft Office; intensive training in the tl1 inventory management system used will be provided
Good English skills are a plus
Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel nationwide for work
